Recently, I came to know of a close family member who was scammed by a phone caller and found out that her identity got stolen.
One of the standard scams spreading like hell is a phone scam where the scammer waits for the right time when the potential target's focus would be distracted, and this usually happens while someone is engrossed in his/her work. Then, the scammer claims to be from IRS, or from a reputed company asks for personally identifiable information such as social security number. This is what really happened in this case.
